Calling all 11-15 year olds! Come learn everything you need to know to be a confident, knowledgeable, and skilled babysitter. Just in time for those summer babysitting jobs. Upon successful completion of the Babysitter Training Course, participants will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter Training Certification, reference guide and more. The training will be held on Monday, May 16 from 9:00 until 5:00 pm in the basement of the Yachats Commons. The cost is $35 and pre-registration is required. Everyone should bring a sack lunch. Come and learn about Yachats’ history, traditions and natives. We will be spending time outdoors; exploring Yachats’ history through nearby trails; identifying wild local food sources and unearthing a few mysteries surrounding past tribal people through artifacts. The Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program is now offering a free beginners fishing class. Learn where to fish ; when to fish; and how to choose a rod and reel, baits and lures, rigs, hooks, knots and other fishing tackle. Fishing 101 starts Monday, July 12th and Wednesday, July 14th from 2- 3 PM in the Yachats Commons basement. There will also be a special fishing trip up the Yachats River road on July 17th where participants can practice their new fishing skills. Pre-registration required.
