Thanksgiving Snack Time

Families, volunteers, kids and wee ones came together on Tuesday, November 23rd for the memorable Thanksgiving Snack.  Snack time at Recreation PLUS (our after school program)  is not your ordinary snack.  Our snacks are filled with love, thoughtfulness and care. Because our snacks come from our beloved bakers and cookers of the community; fresh from the community garden; donated by local restaurants; and sometimes made by our kid bakers and cookers.  Our Thanksgiving Snack was especially memorable because the kids helped make the creamy mashed potatoes, perfectly crispy stuffing, gravy,  sweet and tangy cranberry sauce, and mini ham sandwiches.  The kids even set up the tables. We all sat down and Kyle Parker opened the Thanksgiving Snack with a prayer from his heart (of course it was optional to participate). Afterward, we quickly dug into the delicious food and practiced our table manners.  We ended the Thanksgiving Snack by sharing our thanks to life’s priceless gifts like family and friends. Thank you volunteers, Recreation PLUS kids, and families for sharing this event with us-you all made it a very special day.
