291 individual children and youth, ages 0 – 18, and 298 adults, made over 9,300 visits to the following activities:
Recreation PLUS – 745 hours of Recreation PLUS were offered every day after school, on no-school days, and during spring and summer breaks. PLUS activities included art, sports, beading, Spanish, model club, cooking, gardening, juggling, mad science, pottery, and more.
Preschool - 315 hours of learning with children and parents.
Classes – 218 hours of classes included instruction in language, sailing, writing, music, art, ecology, physics, world culture.
Family Nights & Events – 10 Family Activities (approximately 20 hours) included La Di Da Parade, Masterworks Fair, Family Music Night, MLK Celebration, Classical Concert, Holiday Ornament Night, Valentine Dinner, Talent Show, Family Movie Night, Spaghetti Dinner.
Parent Education & Support – included support for parents at Yachats Indoor Park (115 hours) and regular support group meetings.
Special Teen & Tween Activities– Helping Hands (middle and high school) sponsored 8 Open Mic. Nights, 1 Community Awareness Night, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Middle School Halloween Party, Yachats River Cemetery Clean-up. They co-hosted Family Movie Night and a Spaghetti Dinner. They also assisted with the following : Duck Race, Smelt Fry, Talent Show, Friends of the Library Sale, Beat the Tide. Senior Helping Hands won the 2009 Rural Award of Excellence in the youth category, awarded by Rural Development Initiatives.
