December 15th (ORNAMENT NIGHT)

Families Together program offers dinner and reading once a month. Usually held on the 4th Friday (Sept-May) Starting at 6pm at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, our partner for this program. Dinner is free and a copy of the featured story for the night goes home with every family.  There is always a story-themed craft for the children to do after dinner. Free chapter books are available for older siblings who attend. These evenings are meant as an opportunity for families and other community members to eat and celebrate reading together. Generous community members allow us to offer hard bound books to our giveaway once a year in May.

One of the best things parents can do for their children is to establish a love of reading. Reading is a key predictor of success in school.

A child from a family rich in books is 19% more likely to complete university than a comparable child growing up without a home library.”
